The earth beneath is Echizen clay, rich in iron, the ground on which Echizen ware has stood for some 850 years among Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. Its warmth shows in every unglazed passage, quiet and grained. The wide mouth takes ice with ease, suited to shochu and just as well to iced coffee.
