In E-Karatsu, where iron-oxide brushwork is applied with economy onto coarse stoneware, the motif translates into a small number of strokes that suggest the grass's movement rather than describe it. On this mukozuke the brushwork sweeps in wide arcs across the pale ground — confident marks that occupy the interior without filling it, the spaces between the strokes as considered as the strokes themselves. The form is rounded with a gently lobed rim, pinched at 4 points, deeper than the clam shape version. The Nakazato family has worked in Karatsu since 1615, appointed as the official kiln of the Karatsu clan and maintaining an unbroken lineage now in its 14th generation. The mukozuke is the small serving dish placed at the far side of the tray in kaiseki dining — an object whose scale asks for exactly the kind of restraint E-Karatsu provides.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Nakazato Tarouemon","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53628057616698,"sku":"ntu010010103","price":109.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0707\/4499\/8202\/files\/NakazatoTarouemon_Mukouzuke_SilverGlass_2.webp?v=1785740600","url":"https:\/\/omakase-forest.com\/products\/nakazato-tarouemon-e-karatsu-silver-glass-mukozuke-serving-dish","provider":"omakase","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
