Among the oldest kilns in Mashiko, Tsukamoto has shaped the tradition from within since 1864, just 11 years after the first kiln was established in the town. Across six generations, the family secured clay rights, built distribution networks, trained generations of independent potters, and at a moment of postwar crisis, developed the single-serve ceramic rice vessel that became nationally known and is credited with rescuing Mashiko's ceramic industry.
