Kakuri Japanese Adjustable Chamfer Plane 30mm

Sale price$60.00

Sanjo City in Niigata Prefecture has been Japan's primary metalworking center since the Edo period, a region built on the production of hardware and edged tools for the country's carpenters and craftspeople. Kakuri has worked there since 1946, producing Japanese woodworking tools that carry that regional foundation in their materials and construction. This adjustable chamfer plane is built around a triangular guide rail that locks the oak body at 30, 45, or 60 degrees, allowing 3 distinct chamfer profiles from a single tool. The blade is SK85 high-carbon steel, ground for working edge retention across hardwoods and softwoods. The chip breaker's cap screw allows blade adjustment by hand before final locking with a hammer, a setup method that keeps accuracy within reach regardless of experience. At 151mm and 275g, the plane carries easily to wherever the work is. English instructions are included.
