History of Japanese Tinware

Osaka Naniwa Tinware has a history dating back to 1679 (Enpo 7th year) when "tin-drawing in Naniwa and Sakai streets" was recorded, indicating its presence and circulation in the Kansai region during the mid-Edo period. It became Japan's largest tinware production center from the mid-Edo period to the late Taisho to early Showa period, with around 50 workshops and over 300 craftsmen. Despite challenges during WWII, it was designated a traditional craft in March 1983 (Showa 58) by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.

Brand History

Since 1910, Osaka Suzuki has dedicated itself to carrying on the techniques mastered by the artisans that came before them. Their skilled craftsmen and women continue to create tinware that seamlessly integrates into daily life. From generation to generation, they maintain their commitment to producing tinware that harmoniously balances functionality and beauty.
