Onoyoshi Hamono One Hand Hedge Shears with Guard (Grip Cover)
Onoyoshi Hamono has forged edged tools since 1936, when the workshop's founder worked as a kitchen knife smith in Ono City. The third generation now makes each pair by hand, every shear passing through over 100 individual steps from raw steel to finished blade. This one-hand hedge shear is built for shaping work — hedges, garden trees, pine, bonsai — and for use on ladders where two-handed operation is not possible. The blade is finished with a hollow ground back that keeps the edge sharp through sustained cutting and reduces resin buildup from woody stems. A brass guard fits over the lower grip, preventing the shear from dropping during overhead work, protecting the hand, and stopping the blades from jamming fully open. The long 115mm blade handles new growth and leaf trimming cleanly, and the cut face is left without crushing, which matters when trimming living material that will continue to grow. The entire body is forged and finish-hardened, with each cutting edge applied individually by hand. Leather grip covers are included. Comes with one replacement matsubabane spring.
